Codex on this Amazon desk
If a join can be a script, it should not be a Sunday night in Excel.
Also searched as OpenAI Codex
Codex is the scripting seat. Amazon exports change column names, ASINs hide in parent rows, and a harvest that cannot be rerun is not a harvest. I use Codex to write the small Python/JS jobs that turn this week’s bulk files into the same table as last week.
Those scripts do not push bids. They do not hold API keys to spend money. They reduce the time between “CSV downloaded” and “founder note drafted.” Claude or Kimi then write the English; Cursor is where the script lives in a repo I control.
If a vendor is selling you “AI that logs into Amazon and fixes ACOS,” that is not this. This is plumbing.
What it is for
Write and maintain small analysis scripts: normalize Amazon export columns, match ASINs, compute waste, emit the same harvest CSV every week.
What it is not
Not the Amazon Ads API bot that “optimizes” overnight. Not a replacement for Sellerboard or the Ads Console.
Source of truth: The export files. Scripts cannot invent a sale Amazon did not attribute.
What actually gets used
- Normalize Sponsored Products search-term and targeting exports
- Join profit (Sellerboard) to query-level spend
- Repeatable waste / harvest CSV in the same column order every week
- Sanity checks: missing ASINs, duplicated SKUs, currency, date range
- No spend-capable API calls in the scripts
How it shows up in the week
Ingest
Bulk download from Ads Console / Sellerboard. Same folder shape every week.
Script
Codex drafts the transform. I run it locally. Output is a harvest table, not a bid file.
Diff
This week vs last week. New waste, new converters, vanished ASINs.
Handoff
Table goes to Claude/Kimi for the letter, and to me for the actual negatives and exacts.

FAQ
Does Codex bid on my campaigns?
No. It writes cleanup and join scripts. Bid changes are manual or inside a supervised platform (Xnurta, Flywheel, Cobalt) with a floor.
Is this the Amazon Marketing API?
No. Native Amazon APIs exist; I do not wrap them in an unsupervised spender. Codex here means analysis code on files you already own.
Who owns the scripts?
The desk. They are how the weekly note stays the same shape. They are not a product I license to you as software.

Tools are how the desk runs. The review is still your public listing — leaks, fit, week one. No software upsell on that pass.

Helium 10
Reverse-ASIN and seed-keyword research (Cerebro, including Magnet) so listings and exact campaigns start from real demand — then the search-term report decides.
Jungle Scout
Keyword Scout, product database, and sales estimates as a second research lens — especially when Helium 10 and Jungle Scout disagree on volume.
Jungle Scout Cobalt
Enterprise Amazon intelligence plus ad automation: Seller Central, Vendor Central, and Ads in one layer — used when a catalog is too large for a spreadsheet harvest.
Claude
Long-context read of search-term exports, change logs, and playbooks — drafts the founder note. Does not bid, does not log into Seller Central.
